To be honest, I had no idea how amazing Portugal would be. With the help of our great hosts Pedro and Sylvia we were taken care of like kings. They even took the week off work to show us a good time. I'm back in Vancouver with a heavy work load so I'll make it quick with some photos with captions. Wow! You have no idea how good we lived on this trip, my favourite trip of all time, I can honestly say that. I'll be back this summer for the beach parties. No skate photos in this update, but I got enough for 2 articles. Spots of your dreams!! Cory Wilson, Sean McAllister, Kevin Lowry, Geoff Dermer, Dane the filmer , Mike Hastie and Victor from Folio met up with us too.
We walked through a secret cave to end up at this ocean spot, so incredible.
Valintines day usually lasts a day in north america, here it last a week. We had a huge crew and ended up at a town within a 800 year old castle. They had a Chocolate festival with parties and tons to do. Lots of secret walls to climb, towers, chocolate, booze and secret caves with lights, etc etc.. What a fun night. This is a play at the bottom of a castle. So Beautiful.
Hastie and I check out the roofs of some Chocolate stores. Sweet tooth anyone?
Everywhere we went we rooled deep. Dinners were usually with 15 of us and the bars were even crazier.
Yes that is me, straight drop to the ocean. Sean is terrified of hights and actually wanted to puke watching me sitting there. Pretty funny. Well worth it though.
We called this spot Mars. Waves of brown Marble with up gaps, channel gaps and huge banks. The designer of this spot actually skates too so it's all cool with the guards. We spent a hole day there. You'll be seeing a lot of this spot, I shot about 10 photos there. If you look close you can see Cory pushing.
Dane films one of the 5 up gaps, designed perfectly for skating. So weird.
Kevin ollies up to quick backside 5-0.
They eat a lot of Meat, cheese and bread in Portugal. And of course Beer.
We ended up at a great beach spot where the waves were huge, surfers were killing it. Check out the Castle in the background, not many surf spots like that in the world.
Dane checks out a marble spot, like most spots. I rarely see perfect white marble ledges.
Marble wedges, why?
Another weird spot, who built this, elves?
The churches here were the best I've seen. You wouldn't believe the size and detail in these. Some of them take 200 years just to build.
Every spot we went to I've never seen before, which is very weird considering all I do is look at mags, videos and the internet. This full pipe was really good.
Another busy night of eating and going out. The clubs here stay open ti'll 7 in the morning and this night they were having an awards night for the Carnival. Best costume, biggest partiers and clubs. We got an award somehow, we deserved it!!
