The Damn Am made it’s way up to Canada for the first time this year, Aug 8th and 9th went off with a Bowl Jam and a Street contest. Unfortunately the Finals got rained out but that didn’t stop the Best Trick. Scott Decenzo took it with a front blunt shuvit out first try. Take a peak on Push.ca

 Yup, Freddy Fredrickson works at EAsports with Benny Stoddard now doing simulated camera angle filming stuff. Benny told me him and freddy have facing offices and last friday they covered them both in astro turf. interesting. The edits pretty fresh off the shelves so take it in kids cause Skate2 is coming.  we’ll keep you posted.

Holy shit! is all i have to say. Benny Stoddard and Dave Ehrenreich came to Whistler last night to show their latest film "The Sophmore Jinx" and it was off the fucking hook. Gnarcore.com along with SESSIONS provide a stupid ass after party and these boys part'd like the world was about to end. Oh and the movie was gangster as fuck!!!! Stand out parts from Derrick Swaim, Stacy Gabriel, Nate Lacoste, Kevin Wu and Chad motha-fuckn Dickson. BIg BIG BIG ups!

Friday the 15^th marked the beginning of the first annual Westbeach Chinese Downhill and an effort to reconnect with the spirit of shredding often lost in the myriad of publicly traded companies, profit margins and share-holder accountability that make up the current snowboarding landscape. Although all in the name of fun and beer drinking, a definite air of competitiveness was present amongst the 35 or so contestants vying for the title of fastest shred.

Notable attendees included, Shin Campos, Rube Goldberg, Kevin Sansalone, Jon Cartwright, Colin Adair, Ryan Tiene, Steph Just, Beau Bishop, Wiley Tesseo, Robjin Taylor and all the local shreds that made this event great. The rules were simple: first person to reach the Creekside Underground skatepark from the top of Million Dollar ridge and successfully finish a beer would win the affections of his peers and $500.

Weather? Dude it was epic...of course.

In the end it was a mix of veterans Kevin “Snacksie-pants�? Sansalone and Shin “Getsu�? Campos racing spring-chickens John Caulfield and Anthony Weglan to the finish line. Their shred skills had brought them to the bottom in a possible record time of 4 minutes 53 seconds but the contest was ultimately decided by the beer chugging skills of Shin. Who says professional snowboarding doesn’t teach valuable life skills?

A couple peaches in a big pot of dude stew, Alison Pesemko, Jenelle Pritchard, Steph Just. The only girls brave enough to roll up on this shit.

Perhaps the best part, and the intended effect, was the sense of camaraderie felt by everyone there. It was a great reason for people who are often segregated by work and busy winter schedules to come together and snowboard for the sake of snowboarding. Thanks Westbeach, see you next year.

oh shit yeah! So we are finally done our little snowboard video over here at gnarcore.
The premiere was absolutely fucking nuts (but that’s a whole different blog all together…partly because I lost my camera and need to find some photos before I drop that shit.) Now that we got that out of the way its BLOG CENTRAL ! population us. So lets see here….oh yes. Our Friends Benny Stoddard and Dave Ehreneich over at Don’t sleep Productions have done a nice little job producing LIAM MITCHELL’s latest skateboard film called YOUNG FOLK. Benny had me over to his house the other night to check it out and I have to say for some unheard of video it was pretty tight. The video stars Nate Roline, Derek Swaim, Stacy Gabriel, Kyle Robinson and Kellan Chillibeck to name a few and is premeireing this Thursday at the Bourban in Van. word press is taking a year to load the poster so i'll just throw up a teaser and say PEACE!

oh ya and since it is coming up on snowboard season i thought i'd post this little gem about how to keep your goggles free of fog. I don't know about you but his guy is officially my new favorite youtube celebrity !
