Loaded three surfboards, some black tees, and a leather jacket in the car the other day. Toronto faded away in the rearview: on the road. The destination was California.

It’s Not All About Rails And Stairs. Skateboarding has become so insane these days. Nyjah’s part? I mean people are just going crazy to kill themselves. Don’t get me wrong it’s amazing. I would never have imagined it would get this heavy. Hollywood 16 is pretty much a skatepark rail to these kids now! It’s amazing but it’s just not my thing.

Last summer I got to show around the RDS dudes on their World’s Deadliest Tour (for the record, no lives were lost during the tour) when they came through Toronto. While they were here I pulled Courtenay, B.C.’s Sascha Daley aside to film another installment of SBC’s “3 Minutes With…” series.

Waiting and anticipating is a thing of the past these days, and people’s patience grows shorter and shorter by the minute. This can be a good thing with the growth of the internet when organizing a certain event. Trying to organize a country to have a video contest would have been very difficult a few years ago, especially when it comes to the mass population viewing the winning entries.

What can I say? I’m not a two weeks a year type of person. Leaving a comfortable ‘bright lights, big city’ life working for the Swoosh to write for cents on the word in a strange surf filled land didn’t seem like a hard decision.
