I’m not one to back commercial products, ever. In general I am allergic to most types of branding, logos, and things of the sort. However, I do have a small list of brands that peak my interest on occasion. The following items are some products of note, a top twelve of 2012 if you will…………..drum roll: Apple, Visa, WestJet, and Crown Royal. I have only listed four because everything else sucks. Everything!

What can I say? I’m not a two weeks a year type of person. Leaving a comfortable ‘bright lights, big city’ life working for the Swoosh to write for cents on the word in a strange surf filled land didn’t seem like a hard decision.

A little while ago I noticed how trendy the internet was becoming. I suspected there must be monies to be had, and nothing would be more rewarding then to exploit the world wide web for my own personal gain. The problem was I didn’t actually know how to use the internet. Despite my complete lack of knowledge, I set out to develop the most interesting website the world had ever known. And like that, Appies All The Time was born.

Making magazines isn’t easy. Deadlines generally get blown instead of the editors themselves, and more often than not it’s a thankless, underpaid profession. You don’t make money in media. Well, skate/snow media anyways. You do it because you love it, or because no other profession would have you.
Just over the border, before All Hallows Eve, the eerily quaint town of Lynden, Washington takes to the stables that play host to their annual event aptly dubbed the “Harvest Gnar Fest”. Free food, sodas, giant jack-o-lanterns and fireworks take over the stables of the Northwest Washington fairgrounds. A combination costume ball / skateboard contest / art show (courtesy of the likes of resident ripper and reaper Matt French) — this year I was honored to have been there and judge the contest too.
