its the first trip of the season and like always, colorado's off to a good snow year. after the excess baggage charges, flight delays, damaged airplanes and a slightly sketchy shuttle ride, owen and i sent off to summit county to check out the pipe at copper for a quick sec and then couple hours down to road to aspen.

we ended up doing a couple night sessions with jeremy and keegan, and some park stuff with mikkel during the day. aaron & zach hooper are aspen locs and had it super dialed for us to show up and be productive. after a couple long nights it was back to summit county, breckenridge to be specific.

the next day after some last minute partying, we decided to cure our hang overs by checking out the grandprix pipe contest at copper mountain. fellow canadian dirtbag dustin craven got 5th in the mens, while in the women's, vermonters kelly clark and hannah teter took 1st and 3rd respectively. this was the first real pipe contest i think i've ever been to. it was actually kind of exciting.

5 more days of bleeding noses, chapped lips, and bad night sleeps left in colorado and then its back home for x-mas, turkey, seymour shredding and maybe even some snowmobling....

even hayden kinda knows how to party.
even hayden kinda knows how to party

sandbox whistler premier went off again this year in typical fashion. the westin hotel was packed over 800 people, from what i remember 7 or so boards were given away and 2 trips to mexico... random, but cool nonetheless, and only a couple holes were kicked into the wall. by the time the movie was done everyone got real thirsty and headed to garfs, and then we all proceeded to have the most fun i've ever had there. holy. check the photos.

8mile tv goes live!

8mile television.
its a screen grab, not the actual videoplayer

johnny and mikey wrangled together 23 minutes and 43 seconds of footage for what i believe is the longest and most solid free bro-video out there.... and its only the first episode? these guys must be sitting on some serious footage. they premiered it a couple weeks back at the redbull office in vancouver, the vid features banger sections from the 30+ club, shin campos and martin gallant also johnny, rencz, benji ritchie, dustin craven, the finns, and more. here's the link.

remember this stuff?

the bolex rolls film for the first time in about 500 days.
the bolex rolls film for the first time in about 500 days.

started snowing at my house here today, only the second time this year (our past two seasons the mountain was already open and we had a couple feet at the house), so some huey flakes were falling from the sky so i decided to bust out my bolex super 16 film camera, which i haven't used in some time.

a lot of us traded these in for p2 cards.

i have a shoebox in my fridge stacked full of film... i'll eventually shoot it, i don't know when i'll be able to pay for process and transfer. hopefully i'll be able to piggyback on someone else's transfer who still uses this stuff.

the latitude and colors of film are still amazing, especially transferred to HD with modern film scanners. check the new sandbox flick and see if you can find the film shots, there a couple of them, they actually cut really well with dvcpro hd.

a photo from my younger days. photo: dalby

hi i'm aaron. my home base is whistler, bc. i spent roughly 10 months of the year traveling to snow covered destinations and documenting snowboarding in motion, occasionally with sound.... i feel slightly awkward not posting on my own blog but i hope to over come this real quick. self professed computer/camera geek, diet of a 10 year old (if a 10 year old had no parents), and i really like snowboarding.
