The Big-er picture

Always searching for something different to broaden my photographic interest, I found myself purchasing a Hasselblad Xpan camera at the beginning of 2012. This body in particular is a true Panoramic camera, meaning it will use the length of almost 2 regular 35mm frames to produce one long analog image. In the past, consumer cameras had a “Panorama” feature, which in short cropped a regular frame from the top and bottom and would give the shooter the appearance of a panoramic image. Read more

Loaded three surfboards, some black tees, and a leather jacket in the car the other day. Toronto faded away in the rearview: on the road. The destination was California.

It’s not that far: 4000+ kilometers. 40+ hours of full-speed driving. 4 nights, 5 days. Alone. Just the music and I.

FIRST TRIP.

The first trip of the season sets the tone for beginning of every winter.  the last few seasons i’ve always made of point of getting on some sort of road trip with a goal of having a awesome time with the crew and getting some good deep pow shredding and hopefully logging a shot or two.  the last couple years i’ve been doing trips up around the revelstoke area but after checking the weather it seemed the north coast was getting smashed with early season storms and the terrace area already had a healthy base.

I don’t know about you but skateboarding alone isn’t nearly as much fun then when you’re with a crew. Having the gang or friends at the spot can really change the level of skating, and in some cases, life in general. As we get older and responsibilities come into our lives we begin to miss our youth. The days of living in a household with your homies and skating everyday can be golden memories. I’ve lived in many skate houses over the years, some with 13-15 people at a time. It’s loud, parties in abundance, and all day talks about skateboarding, what could be better when your young and looking to be a skate rat? The importance of friends and a skate crew can make you improve your skating in double time.
